Surf & Projected Mapping TurfWith the rise of LED in the event industry, we are always looking for ways to elevate our shows and make our clients%u2019 vision realized. For a Leadership Conference in Monterrey, California, the theme of the event was a camp-style event with beachy, outdoorsy themes. Because of this, our Alford Media team decided to use traditional longboard surfboards as design shapes for doing Projection Mapping in front of LED screens. ideas starting out in a CAD drawingWhile the use of the %u201cthemed%u201d canvases allowed for a more dynamic and complimentary look to the traditional LED build, it also obscured two different doorways that allowed Show Presenters to access the stage. Projection Mapping isn't new, but it often gets overlooked when LED is involved.Having Projection Mapping work in tandem with LED to color objects, shapes and scenic sets in ways LED can%u2019t, will create more innovative and exciting shows for clients and viewers alike.projection make these look like real surfboardsprojection mapping allow us to animate these boards in many wonderful ways.
